Egypt will experience Saturday a noticeable drop in temperatures, days after an unseasonable “summer-like heat wave” that reached its peak Friday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced.
In an official statement, the EMA's Ahmed Abdel-Aal said that the weather will be moderate on the northern coasts, and warm in the Nile Delta and Cairo, extending till Northern Upper Egypt.
According to the EMA, the drop in temperatures would lead to sandy winds in most parts of the country, causing disturbances in navigation in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean.
Cairo will register a high of 24 and a low of 17, while Alexandria will feel a high of 20 and a low of 14
The Red Sea governorates are expected to see a high of 30 and a low of 22, and 31 and 20, respectively.
Upper Egypt's Luxor will register a high of 32 and a low of 21. Aswan will experience a 36 high and 25 low.
Egypt has been facing an intense heat wave since Monday, with temperatures reaching a high of 36 degrees in Cairo on Thursday.
The heat wave reached its peak Friday, with Cairo seeing a high of 38 and a low of 17, while Alexandria on the Mediterranean experiencing a high of 24 and a low of 16.
During the spring, which began this year 21 March, Egypt expects to see four to six sandstorms, which are typically marked by a sudden rise and then drop in temperatures of around 10-15 degrees, Abdel-Al said in a statement last week.
