Russian Cultural Day at the Journalists Syndicate

In the presence of Head of the Journalists Syndicate and Al-Ahram Organisation Chairman of the Board Abdel-Mohsen Salama and Aleksey Tevanyan, Advisor to the Russian Embassy and Director of the Russian Centres for Science and Culture in Egypt and with the participation of students of the Faculty of Alsun, at the Department of Russian Language, a photo exhibition entitled “Russia Today” was inaugurated. The event took place on Wednesday 7 March.
It included photos of the most important tourist attractions and monuments in Russia. This was followed by screening of two documentaries; the first was on Russia's landmarks and the second on the 11 cities that will welcome the 2018 World Cup in Russia. An open meeting was held with the Egyptian and Russian media personalities, led by Sherif Gad, director of Cultural Activity Programme at the Russian Cultural Centre, and Mahmoud Kamel, head of the Cultural Committee of the Journalists Syndicate where Salama stressed the importance of the Egyptian-Russian relations that flourished in the era of President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Tevanyan pointed that this year, Egypt and Russia will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which will be organized in cooperation with the Association of Russian Graduates. Tevanyan also highlighted the “Russian House of the Egyptian Fan” initiative which is currently being arranged by the Russian Centre in coordination with the FIFA to provide all information and data to the fans.
Gad then presented the athlete Mohamed Nofal, who will travel to Russia. Finally, Tevanyan, together with the Russian Cultural Centre and the Egyptian Cycling Federation honoured the Journalists' Syndicate granting Salama, the shield of the Russian Cultural Centre, and Tevanyan announced offering ten scholarships for journalists to study the Russian language. The scholarships were named after the late young journalist Reda Ghoneim
