Preview: Azaro seeks to further silence critics as Ahly face easy test
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 12 - 2017

Moroccan striker Walid Azaro might be heavily criticised by Ahly's faithful for wasting many goal-scoring chances but he is now the team's top scorer, having made the best start ever for a newly-arrived striker at the club.
Azaro has scored five goals in Ahly's first eight games in the Egyptian Premier League and will be looking to increase his tally when the unstoppable side face 12th place Assiouty Sport in one of their rescheduled games on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old has netted 10 goals in his first 15 matches in all competitions since joining Ahly in the summer from Morocco's Difaa El Jadida, eclipsing former striker Malick Evouna of Gabon who scored 10 goals in 16 games.
Azaro was guilty of spurning two gilt-edged chances during Ahly's 4-1 victory over Enppi on Saturday but made amends after adding the third for the Red Devils in the second half.
Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi made a darting run down the left and crossed low for Azaro, whose initial shot struck the woodwork before the ball bounced back off his head and into the net.
"Azaro brings lots of benefits to the team, because he's a pacey and energetic striker," Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry told a television sports show after the game.
"He causes problems for any opponents and he is a brilliant striker."
Ahly look well equipped to win a third straight league title, having recovered from an opening draw with Talae El-Geish to record seven consecutive victories.
They are third in the table with 22 points and should they win their four rescheduled matches, they will be seven points clear of second-placed Ismaily.
Ahly will miss goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawi, who has been El-Badry's preferred option between the sticks in recent games, due to injury. Sherif Ekramy is likely to reclaim his regular spot.
