Egypt's PM, political figures discuss proposed 'advisory council' El-Ganzoury and SCAF officials hold series of meetings with political leaders following successful first round of parliamentary polling
Newly appointed Prime Minister Kamel El-Ganzoury on Wednesday morning met with members of Egypt's ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) and various political figures to discuss the formation of an “advisory council” to assist the government in the coming period. The formation of the council, to be made up of representatives of different parties and movements, was first floated by El-Ganzoury and leading SCAF members as a possible alternative to a proposed government of “national salvation.” Wednesday also saw SCAF head Field-Marshal Hussein Tantawi holding a midday meeting with several political figures to discuss preliminary results of the first round of Egypt's first post-Mubarak parliamentary polls. The meeting was reportedly attended by presidential contenders Amr Mousa and Mohamed Selim El-Awa, along with army chief-of-staff Sami Anan.
