Turkish giants Galatasaray have been in talks with Premier League side Arsenal concerning a possible move for Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny, Turkish media reported on Monday. Galatasaray sporting director Cenk Ergun arrived in London on Sunday to open negotiations with the Premier League side, according to media reports in Turkey. The 25-year-old Elneny, who joined Arsenal in January 2016, struggled to establish himself with the Gunners, making 12 starts in all competitions last season. English newspaper The Sun reported last week that Arsenal had accepted a £10 million offer from Leicester City to lure the Egyptian midfielder, though Elneny turned down the offer, opting to stay with Arsenal despite his lack of play time. The former Arab Contractors player started his European career in January 2013 when he signed a six-month loan deal with Swiss side Basel. After making the deal permanent, Elneny helped Basel win three Super League titles in a row before joining Arsenal in January 2016. Elneny is a regular member in the Pharaohs squad under the guidance of coach Hector Cuper, who usually utilises Elneny's great capabilities in the heart of the Pharaohs' midfield.
