VIDEO: Protesters flock to Tahrir as violence enters 3rd day The number of demonstrators in Tahrir increases considerably as bloody clashes with security forces continue for a third day
By Simon Hanna The number of protesters in Tahrir increases considerably as clashes near the famous square continue for a third day. Protesters and riot police continue to clash on Mohamed Mahmoud Street, where Central Security Forces are firing bird shot and tear gas at stone-throwing demonstrators. The fighting, which began on Saturday morning (Nov 19) when police tried to forcibly disperse a sit-in, has resulted in at least 1500 injuries and 33 deaths. Protesters in the square are now calling for the ruling Military Council to transfer power to a civilian government, citing repeated violations including torture, violently dispersing protests, court martialling 12,000 civilians (military trials) and plotting to stay in power or maintain their powers. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/27209.aspx
