Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is set to meet on Thursday with Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, who will arrive on a short visit to Cairo to discuss developments in the situation with Qatar, days after the two countries severed diplomatic ties with the Gulf state along with a number of Arab countries. On Monday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Yemen and the eastern-based government of Libya cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing the Gulf country of supporting terrorist groups such as Daesh and Al-Qaeda, as well as interfering in the internal affairs of nations in the region. Bahrain's King Al-Khalifa will arrive in Cairo, coming from Saudi Arabia where he met with Saudi King Salman bin Abdel-Aziz. The meeting of the two kings also tackled the decision to sever ties with Doha. "Qatari intereference left us with no choice but to take the measures we took to preserve the security and stability of our countries," the Bahraini king said following the meeting in Saudi. In early May, El-Sisi met with Al-Khalifa and top Bahraini officials to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and ongoing security issues in Bahrain as part of the Egyptian president's two-nation mini-tour of the Gulf. The Bahraini king last visited Cairo in late March. During the trip, the Egyptian president reaffirmed Cairo's commitment to the security of allied Gulf states and wishes for continued close cooperation.
