Detained Egyptian blogger @Alaa says he turned down conditional release deal
Blogger Alaa Abdel Fattah has claimed he received an offer to be released providing that he never again criticise de-facto ruler Hussein Tantawi

Detained blogger Alaa Abdel Fattah has claimed that he received an offer from one source to be released providing that he never again criticise Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Egypt's current de-facto head of state.
Abdel Fattah was arrested last week after being accused of instigating bloody clashes between military forces and Copts nearly a month ago in Maspero, which saw at least 25 people killed.
Abdel Fattah, who rejects the practice of civilians being tried by military courts, has refused to be interrogated by military prosecutors as a matter of principle. He has also vociferously criticised the idea that the military should investigate the Maspero clashes, in which military police were directly involved.
The military prosecution ordered his detention for 15 days pending investigation.
Later on his blog, Abdel Fattah said someone who played a major role in the January 25 Revolution wanted to cut a deal with him.He said on the blog entry, his first since going to prison, that the deal was not hit out at Tantawi ever again, and that this would be his ticket out of detention.
“Someone who was important during the revolution offered me a swift exit from jail,” he said in entry, which was published by his wife. “[He said] ‘Get out but don't curse Field Marshal [Tantawi], that's it … I turned it down; how would I face my family if I accepted [it]?”
While speaking to Ahram Online, Alaa's sister, Mona Seif, refused to elaborate on the alleged offer.“I would rather not to comment on this. It's up to my brother to reveal the identity of this person if he wants to at some point,” she said.
