Cairo's Cimatheque Alternative Film Centre will screen Moroccan director Ahmed El Maanouni's 1981 documentary Trances twice this week, on Tuesday and Thursday. The film's subject is the Moroccan band Nass El Ghiwane, taking the viewer to rehearsal sessions and live shows, and featuring the band members' conversations about politics and philosophy. The movie further explores the origins of Moroccan soul music in Moroccan and African history.
