Egypt condemns killing of two Moroccan soldiers in Central African Republic

Egypt's foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid condemned on Friday an attack launched on a UN peacekeeping convoy in Central African Republic, which resulted in the death of two Moroccan soldiers.
In a statement issued by the ministry, Abu Zeid expressed Egypt's condolences to the families of the soldiers and to the people and government of Morocco.
The two Moroccan soldiers of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) were killed on Tuesday by unidentified militants in an armed attack near the town of Bria, northeast of the capital Bangui.
The Central African Republic has slipped into violence since a civil conflict broke out in 2013 between Muslim rebels and members of the Christian majority.
In December 2013, 12,500 peacekeepers were deployed in the country as part of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).
