Egyptian golden age singer Nagat El-Sagheera re-emerges with new single
Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 01 - 2017

Nagat El-Saghira, the Egyptian singer and actress from the country's “golden age” of the 1940s, 50s and 60s, released a single on Monday after a 15-year hiatus.
Titled Kol El-Kalam, the eight-minute song features lyrics from a poem by the late poet Abdelrahman El-Abnoudi, with music by composer Talal and Yehia El-Mougy.
The song was released online on the Mazzika Youtube channel, with a music video by Hani Lasheen. The song will soon be broadcast on the Mazzika satellite TV channel, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
The songstress asked Lasheen to use footage from her old films for the music video, in which she appears as audiences remember her.

Nagat had previously performed poems by Abnoudi, including one of her top hits La Takzebi (Do Not Lie), and has frequently sung poems by other renowned Arab poets, such as Nizar Qabbani, which often lasted for 20 minutes in the studio version and longer during stage performances.
Nagat El-Saghira was born in 1938, and began her career in acting and singing at the young age of eight, when she appeared in the 1947 film Hadiya.
She released her first song in 1955 when she was 16 years old.
She retired from acting in 1976 after starring in 13 films including El-Shomooa El-Sawdaa (Black Candles), and retired from singing in 2002, after working with top musicians and composers including Mohamed Abdel-Wahhab, Kamal El-Tawil and Baligh Hamdy.
