Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received in Cairo on Monday Lebanon's foreign minister Gebran Bassil, who is on an official visit to Egypt. Bassil told El-Sisi that newly elected Lebanese President Michael Aoun is keen to visit Egypt at the closest possible opportunity. The Lebanese foreign minister started his visit to Cairo by meeting the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church Pope Tawadros II, where Bassil extended his condolences for the victims of last week's Cairo church bombing. In November, Egypt's foreign minister Sameh Shoukry met in Beirut with Lebanese President Aoun and extended an invitation to Egypt on behalf of President El-Sisi.
