"The military are trying to disperse the people with shots in the air and tear gas," one of the witnesses, Attia Athmouni, told Reuters by telephone. A second witness, Mahdi Horchani, said the military intervened when the crowd tried to attack the governor's office. A night-time curfew is to be imposed in Sidi Bouzid, an Interior Ministry source said. The curfew will be from 7pm (1800 GMT) until 500am and will take effect from Friday evening, the source told Reuters.
