The third annual Egypt Comix Week will be launched in Cairo on Monday, and will feature workshops, exhibitions and seminars in a number of Egyptian cities. There will be workshops for emerging cartoon and comics artists in Cairo, Alexandria, Assuit and Hurghada, which will focus on teaching the skills of comic production, for a total capacity of 235 artists. The week also will include two comic galleries in Garden City and Beit El-Seheimy in Fatimid Cairo, in addition to seminars, discussions and film screenings in Cairo, Fayoum, and Alexandria. Artists from Egypt, Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Finland, Denmark and Austria will participate in the festival. Two comic books will also be launched at the festival: the graphic novel Invisible Hands by Finnish artist Ville Tietäväinen and the collective comic book Border Crossing. Egypt Comix week is organised by the by the state's Cultural Development Fund, the Swiss Arts Council (Prohelvetia), the Goethe Institute, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute, the Robert Bosch Institute and the Japan Foundation.
