Egypt's Ahly targeting foreign striker in January: Coach El-Badry
Published in Ahram Online on 26 - 11 - 2016

Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry has stated that the club will be signing a foreigner in the January transfer window, while ruling out the prospect of an Egyptian joining in the winter break.
The Ahly coach, who took charge of the club in the close season, indicated that they are keeping tabs on four foreigners, including two Colombians, a Nigerian and a Zimbabwean.
El-Badry said the club is not considering signing a domestic player, with all Egyptians available "incapable of fulfilling [our] needs" in the current period.
"There are two Colombians, a Nigerian and Zimbabwean whom we are currently monitoring. We hope we could sign one of them," 56-year-old El-Badry said.
El-Badry had already said in statements to a radio station that Ahly was looking to acquire the services Mamelodi Sundowns Colombian winger David Castro. The South African club said they had turned down an offer from an Egyptian club.
Defending league champions Ahly already boast three foreigners among their ranks: Ghanaian striker John Antwi, Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi and Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul.
It remains to be seen who the Reds will offload in the winter break to free a slot should they acquire a foreigner, with Antwi's chances of remaining at the club seeming the least likely of the three.
