Egyptian duo Ramy Ashour and Amr Shabana will meet each other today at the final of Sheikha Al Saad Kuwait Squash Open championship. Ashour, the world's number 1, defeated Englishman James Willstrop 3-1 (11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 10-12 and 11-7) in 82 minutes in the semi-final, while third seed Shabana qualified after the withdrawal of his French opponent, Gregory Gaultier due to injury. Shabana has already won two sets (11-9 and 11-3) and was leading 7-5 in the third when the Frenchman pulled off. Ashour has just recovered from an injury that caused his withdrawal midway through last week's final of the El Gouna International Open and hoped he could clinch the Kuwaiti title as compensation. After passing the first round of the Kuwaiti championship two days ago, the 23-year old former World champion affirmed that he is determined to win the title of the championship which is considered one of the most important tournaments in the world. “Thank God I'm still playing well, and I'm still winning,” Ashour told www.squashsite.co.uk. “But you know one thing? I'm more desperate to win than anybody at the moment. Before, I wanted to win – but not that much. But now, I really, really, want to win!,” he added.
