Zambia's ZESCO United failed to preserve their two-goal home advantage, allowing Mamelodi Sundowns to score a vital away goal in the final minutes of their Champions League semi-final first-leg in Ndola. Two goals in quick succession through Jackson Mwanza and Mwelwa Mwape less than 10 minutes after the break put hosts ZESCO 2-0 in front, but Khama Billiat netted a crucial away goal for the South Africans four minutes from time. Unlike the other semi-final first-leg, which saw Zamalek record a comprehensive 4-0 home victory over Morocco's Wydad Casablanca to set a foot in the final, the Zambians – who finished second of their last-eight Group A - look far from having guaranteed a place in the competition's final stage. The return leg takes place a week later, where Sundowns host ZESCO in Pretoria and Zamalek visit Wydad in Rabat on 24 September.
