Breaking: Militants set fire to cars, trash stores in Rome Witnesses in Rome says that protesters set fire to two cars and broke some store windows, but there are no immediate reports of injuries until now
Demonstrators in Rome set fire to two cars and broke some store windows during a protest in the Italian capital on Saturday, witnesses said. They said the violence was caused by hooded militants known as "black blocs," who have infiltrated demonstrations in the past. There were no immediate reports of injuries. Television images showed one of the cars in flames and spewing thick black smoke over the route of the demonstration, which was otherwise peaceful. RAI television said at least two fires were set along the route and some demonstrators ran into a hotel for safety.
