Egyptians are expected to mostly focus their attention in the Rio Olympics on Friday on Taekwondoist Seham El-Sawalhi, who will be hopeful of a quarter-final berth when she takes on Ivory Coast's Marie Christelle Gbagbi in the women's 67kg round of 16. El-Sawahli is not expected to face a stiff challenge in Gbagbi, but she will likely be heading for a heavy clash with the 2013 World Champion Haby Niare in the next round. The 24-year-old El-Sawahli, a reigning African champion, participated at the 2012 London Games but was eliminated from the preliminary round. Meanwhile, Karim Emad El-Sayed will kick off Friday for Egyptians when he takes part in the Canoe Men's Kayak Single 200m Heats. After finishing seventh in the technical routine event, Egypt's synchronised swimming team will be contesting in the team's free routine final. In the Modern Pentathlon, Haidi Adel Morsi will be resuming her second day at the Olympics when she begins with the women's swimming event ranking round. The 16-year-old Morsi, the youngest Egyptian at the Olympics, will then continue contesting in the bonus round in the fencing event, where she already participated on Thursday, before competing in the ranking round of riding show jumping. Diver Mohab El-Kordi will be contesting in the Preliminary round of the 10m platform.
