Ahly coach Jol optimistic over CAF Champions League title
Published in Ahram Online on 28 - 07 - 2016

After beating Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca in Rabat on Wednesday, Ahly Dutch coach Martin Jol revealed that he will work in silence as he is eager to win the CAF Champions League title.
"We have to win the coming two games to achieve the CAF Champions League title," Jol said during the post game press conference.
A header from Rami Rabia early in the second half gave Egypt's Ahly an African Champions League lifeline following a precious 1-0 victory over Wydad Casablanca.
Ahly are third in their Group A on four points, on level with ASEC and three short of joint leaders Wydad and ZESCO with two matches remaining.
"I know that Ahly fans won't give up winning the CAF Champions League whatever the reasons we have so I decided to work silently to achieve the target," Jol added.
"Before the game we recognised well that we have no choice but to win as all that has happened in the previous games was bad luck.
"The victory put us again in the right track to compete for a semifinals post.
"All players performed well during the game especially Walid Soliman who had a superb performance in the midfield.
"Ahly's good character always appears in the difficult circumstances and I am happy for the victory," Jol explained.
The Cairo giants struggled from injuries during the game as central midfielder Amr El-Sulaya was substituted in the first half and his replacement, Bassem Ali, was also taken off after the break. Central defender Ahmed Hegazy was also replaced on 66 minutes after sustaining a hamstring injury.
"Bad luck was behind the players' injury during the game but we dealt well with it and managed to secure the victory," the Dutch coach concluded.
