English Premier League side Stoke City have made a formal bid to sign Ahly's prodigy Ramadan Sobhi, Egyptian reports said on Saturday. Sobhi, 19, has been one of Ahly's best performers this season as the Red Devils close in on their ninth Egyptian Premier League title in 10 seasons. He has scored three league goals and created seven others, tormenting defenders with his neat footwork and impressive ability to skip past challengers in one-on-one situations. Several Egyptian newspapers said Sobhi's agent sat down with Ahly's chairman Mahmoud Taher on Saturday to discuss the bid. Bleacher Report said last month that Stoke were lining up an offer for the Egyptian international, who played a key role in helping Egypt qualify for the African Cup of Nations for the first time since 2010. He created a stoppage-time goal for Mohamed Sobhi when Egypt salvaged a 1-1 draw at Nigeria in March before scoring the solitary goal which earned the Pharaohs a precious 1-0 home win over the Super Eagles few days later. Stoke finished ninth in the Premier League table last season with 51 points.
