Hamas officials in the Gaza Strip say they have invited a top Libyan leader for a visit. Hamas spokesman Taher Nunu said Hamas' Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyeh, phoned Mustafa Abdul-Jalil on Sunday. Abdul-Jalil is the head of the National Transitional Council, the incoming rulers of Libya, Haniyeh congratulated him on his victory and invited him to visit Gaza, Nunu said. He says Abdul-Jalil promised to respond to the invitation soon. Forces opposed to Muammar Gaddafi's control of much of Libya, but have had trouble driving loyalists out of three strongholds. Gaddafi is still on the run. Abdul-Jalil joined the rebels in the uprising's first high-level defection. He is one of several former Gaddafi regime members who make up a powerful bloc on the council.
