Egypt's minimum wage is not yet enforced due to bureaucratic quagmire

Egypt's general federation of labour unions has expressed its demand on Tuesday that the Cabinet apply the recent court ruling approving a minimum wage.
The law that set a minimum wage should apply to 1.9 million employees, who have already received their July salary, but not at the minimum wage set by the 2011 law.
The federation complained that the minimum wage was not set because the Cabinet had not issued its approval to execute the court ruling.
The federation's economic secretary, Nassr Ibrahim, stated in a response that he has already sent a request to the ministry of finance asking them to send a decision to all government institutions to apply the minimum wage, set at LE708 ($118.90).
