Adding to debate on a bill of rights for Egyptians, the National Council for Human Rights has said it will issue its suggestions for supra-constitutional principles that must be respected The National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) announced in a statement issued today that it has agreed to issue a supra-constitutional principles document. According to the statement, the document will be prepared by members of the council and should be promulgated by a constitutional declaration. The NCHR demanded an end to military trials for civilians, limiting such trials to normal military law only. The NCHR said it would present a list of civilians currently prosecuted before military trials, demanding their release or retrail in civil courts. The council has agreed to open offices in Egypt's governorates. It also announced in its statement that it will have representation in the fund for the martyrs and wounded of the January 25 Revolution that was set up by the government.The council also announced that suggest amendments to criminal law relative to torture and its definition.
