The 6 April Youth Movement decided to leave Tahrir Square late Friday evening after long debates and disagreements between the different participating groups whether to continue the sit-in that started Tuesday. The movement said it will resume demonstrations the coming Friday if the proposed revolution demands have not yet been met. They added that Retribution Friday should act as a warning to the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces and PM Essam Sharaf's government that Egypt's political movements will not give up their demands. The demands put forth by 6 April include an expedited trial of the ousted president Hosni Mubarak, all police officers involved in killing protestors and former corrupt officials. It also includes cleansing PM Sharaf's current interim government of all former regime figures and corrupt officials. This includes cleansing the ministry of interior of all officers involved in torture, banning all corrupt former ruling National Democratic Party members from running in the coming parliamentary elections; investigating the violence that took place on Tuesday; ending the military trials of civilians and removing the anti-strike and demonstration laws recently issued. The sit-in was called for as a response to the violent clashes that erupted on Tuesday between police forces and the martyrs' families in front of the Ministry of Interior and the Balloon Theatre in Agouza district.
