The American University in Cairo (AUC) has categorically denied preventing female students from wearing the veil on campus, contrary to recent allegations. “The university would not prevent any veiled female from getting onto campus as it respects the religion and culture of the Egyptian people,” an AUC press release read. “The university also encourages and supports the existence of a diversified, multi-cultured and forgiving community inside the university. “All the policies of the university reflects its respect towards the religious, political and individual differences inside its community and the community outside the university's walls,” the statement added.
