Spokesperson of the Meteorological Authority, Ali Qutb, has announced on Tuesday that the a thin fog eminating from the Dubbi volcano of Eritrea will cover the skies of South Egypt, the Red Sea and Sinai on Wednesday. The volcano fog will be 15 kilometers above ground. It is unknown when the fog will clear. Qutb told Ahram Online that the fog will not have any effect on the temperature and said that the fog will not be dense at this time of the year. He added that the fog that covered the city of Luxor on Tuesday will be heading northwest, passing through the coastal areas of the Red Sea including Hurghada and Sinai, away from highly-populated, residential areas. Meanwhile, the Egyptian Aviation Authority declared a state of emergency and cancelled all flights heading to Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, and Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. The Arab Union of Air Transport has also declared that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been affected by the volcano fog which caused it to cancel all flights heading to Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan and Djibouti. Experts expect the volcanic ash to reach Saudi Arabia and Jordan soon.
