Egypt's PM visits residents harmed by Italian consulate bombing on first day of Eid

Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab visited on Friday the residents of Cairo's Boulaq Abu El-Ela whose houses sustained damages when a bomb exploded last week at the nearby Italian consulate.
The premier checked the damages from the bomb and wished the residents a happy feast as the country celebrates the first of three days of the Muslim Eid El-Fitr, which follows the holy month of Ramadan.
Last Saturday, a car bomb parked in front of the Italian Consulate in downtown Cairo leaving one dead and 10 injured.
The consulate's entrance on Galaa Street, as well as its facade, were destroyed.
Neighbouring buildings also suffereddamage, windows of buildings located a few hundred meters away from the explosion were shattered, including some windows of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and the Press Syndicate in Abdel-Khaleq Tharwat Street.
The residents organised a small protest right after the explosion to demand authorities to fix the damages.
Since then, authorities announced that they would provide alternative housing to residents in the area whose homes were damaged by the car bomb.
However, some of the affected residents have rejected offers of resettlement away from their neighbourhood.
The governor of Cairo also said the government would not neglect citizens whose homes were harmed due to the blast and promised compensation.
