Ghana and FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk's fullback Samuel Inkoom sustained a thigh injury during Monday's training with the Black Stars that will keep him out of next Friday's game against Congo in round four of the African Cup of Nations' qualifiers. "He had a muscle tear in his left thigh which he sustained yesterday in training. A scan today confirmed our suspicions; however, he's started treatment," Ghana's doctor Percy Annan was quoted as saying on the Ghana FA official website. This will leave coach Goran Stevanovic with just John Paintsil as single choice for the right-back slot. Meanwhile Stevanovic revealed his delight to have Chelsea's midfielder Michael Essien back on the squad for the first time since the 2010 ACN. "When I took this job I made his return a priority and he promised he would return in June, which is what he has done. "He is a great player and a great man and we are happy to have him back," the Serbian manager stated in a press conference. Ghana – who have seven points after three games - will hope to get past Congo to extend their lead at the top of Group 1 and edge closer to the final stage.
