The 11th edition of the Independent Film Festival "New Shorts from Egypt!" held at the Goethe Institute in Cairo will screen shorts by young Egyptian filmmakers, in addition to films by German filmmakers Between 22 and 24 May, the Goethe Institute in Cairo will hold the 11th Independent Film Festival. This year the festival is entitled New Shorts from Egypt! and will include 24 short movies by young Egyptian filmmakers, selected from 136 films submitted to the festival. A cash prize for Extraordinary Achievement will be given to the best movie, while other awards will be distributed for best director, script, sound/music, editing and photography. The Egyptian director Ahmed Nour is the curator for the programme in this year's festival, while jury members will include other experts in the field; Saad Hendawy, Rabab Abdellatif and Hala Khalil. For the first time in its history, the 11th Independent Film Festival will also screen shorts by German filmmakers. These films have been shown in prestigious German film festivals, including the Leipzig Film Festival. One of the movies is about the revolution in Germany in1989.
