Egypt's Mufti calls for unity against sectarianism
Ali Gomaa calls on Egyptians and the military council to stand against sectarianism and its attempts to 'destabilise' the country

Egyptian Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa denounced on Sunday the sectarian clashes which took place in the Imbaba district of Giza late on Saturday night.
Gomaa stated that such actions could not stem from people who are truly religious and asked all Egyptians to stand united against “those who seek to destabilise” the country.
He further emphasised the importance of the rule of law and demanded that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces take all necessary measures to face down these pernicious attempts.
