Egypt's SCAF leaders to review circumstances of deadly Friday Sinai attacks
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces Saturday morning to discuss the latest round of terror attacks against security forces

At an emergency meeting headed by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi, Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) tasked a group of its senior leaders with studying the circumstances of the latest terrorist attacks in Sinai.
Some 28 soldiers were killed and another 30 injured when a car bomb exploded at the Karm Alkwadis security checkpoint in Sheikh Zuweid in North Sinai Friday.
Hours later, three security personal were killed when militants opened fire at a checkpoint in nearby Al-Arish.
According to an official statement posted on his Facebook page, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said a full quorum attended the SCAF meeting Saturday morning to review the army's strategy in combating a national jihadist insurgency.
SCAF also decided to convene joint meetings with top police generals to coordinate counter-terrorism activities in the Sinai Peninsula.
Saturday's SCAF meeting is considered El-Sisi's first on an emergency basis since he was sworn in as president in June.
On Friday evening, after a three-hour meeting with the National Defence Council, El-Sisi declared a state of emergency in parts of North Sinai for three months, including an overnight curfew from 5pm to 7am.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for Friday's deadly attacks.
