US envoy against ISIS to hold talks in Cairo
The Obama administration's coordinator of international efforts against ISIS is to hold talks in Cairo on Wednesday to bolster the fight against the jihadist group

A US envoy tasked with building a coalition against Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) is expected to arrive in Cairo on Wednesday, where he will hold talks on fostering the US-led alliance, state news agency MENA reported.
Retired general John Allen, a former top US commander in Afghanistan, will be accompanied by Brett McGurk, deputy assistant secretary of state, in the talks
Both diplomats, who were in held talks with Jordanian officials in Amman on tuesday, are due to meet Egyptian government officials and Arab League leaders to discuss efforts to "bolster" the international coalition.
Allen was chosen in mid-September as the Obama administration's special envoy to lead the international efforts against ISIS, an jihadist Sunni group which has seized large parts of Syria and Iraq since June.
The US-led coalition has launched airstrikes on ISIS targets in Syria since late September, in which Arab allies including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have participated.
Egypt has not announced any specific involvement in the raids but President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi said recently in an interview with AP that Egypt is "completely committed to giving support," and will do "whatever is required" to support the coalition.
