Muslim Brotherhood's lawyer sentenced to one year in jail
The Muslim Brotherhood's lawyer Abdel-Maksoud was already released on bail in another trial two weeks ago

The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced on Thursday the Muslim Brotherhood's lawyer Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud for insulting supreme constitutional court judges after he was released on bail pending a trial in another case two weeks ago.
The court sentenced Abdel-Maksoud along with fellow lawyer Nasser El-Hafi to one year in jail and fined them LE20,000 (approximately $2,857) for insulting the court judges.
Abdel-Maksoud and El-Hafi were accused of insulting the judges of the supreme constitutional court following the court's verdict to dissolve the People's Assembly in June 2012 after ruling that the election was unconstitutional, and one third of the winners were illegitimate.
The Muslim Brotherhood's political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party had already won 37.5% of the seats in the People's assembly.
The Freedom and Justice Party was already dissolved last August by a court order. The Muslim Brotherhood was also designated as terrorist organisation last December.
Abdel-Moneim Abdel-Maksoud was released on bail two weeks ago by a Giza criminal court pending a trial related to the Bein El-Sarayat clashes last July 2013.
Abdel-Maksoud and a number of Muslim Brotherhood's officials were accused of inciting violence in Giza's Bein El-Sarayat district after Morsi's ouster, the clashes left at least 16 people dead.
