Ahly's Spanish manager, Juan Carlos Garrido, has expressed satisfaction after the team qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals following a home goalless draw Saturday with Tunisia's Etoile Sahel.
"Despite all the difficult circumstances, we made it. The match was tough because of the Tunisians' enthusiastic attack," the coach was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
"We still have work to do in order to make the players reach the levels I am targeting, although I really thank each and every one of the team for the solid performance."
The Red Devils remain top of Group B with nine points, finishing ahead of Ivory Coast's Sewe Sport, who crushed Nkana of Zambia 3-0, due their better head-to-head record.
Ahly are the first Egyptian side to book a last-four berth at Africa's secondary club competition since ENPPI qualified for the semis in 2009 before losing to Stade Malien.
