Egypt and Palestine FM's to meet, discuss Gaza crisis
Egyptian and Palestinian foreign ministers are to meet on Monday ahead of an urgent meeting at the Arab League called by Kuwait over Gaza death-toll
Published in Ahram Online on 14 - 07 - 2014

Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is scheduled to meet his Palestinian counterpart Riyad Al-Malaky on Monday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.
Shoukry will head Egypt's delegation in an urgent meeting of Arab foreign ministers to be held at the Arab League headquarters in downtown Cairo on Monday evening as part of continued efforts to bring an end to the violence in Gaza that has killed over 100 Palestinians since Israel launched a campaign of air strikes last week.
The urgent meeting was called by Kuwait, which currently heads the Arab League.
Minister Sameh Shoukry cancelled his visit to Tunisia where meetings were scheduled with Libya's neighbours so that he could follow up on the situation in Gaza and prepare for the foreign affairs ministers' meeting in Cairo.
On Sunday, Shoukry had a phone call with US Secretary of State John Kerry to discuss the Gaza crisis.
The conversation dealt with Egypt's efforts to stop Israel's ongoing attack on Gaza and to work on reaching a cease fire agreement, said a spokesperson with Egypt's foreign ministry.
Also on Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi told United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that Egypt's internal affairs wouldn't interfere with its pursuit of a just settlement for Palestinians that safeguards their rights and allows the Palestinian people to have a liveable state inside the June 1967 borders.
Israeli air-strikes have killed over 165 Palestinians and injured hundreds more after an aerial campaign dubbed Operation Protective Edge was launched last Tuesday.
Over a thousand rockets have been fired from Gaza into Israel, with no casualties reported.
