Host, owner of private satellite channel ordered pay fine for insulting actor Amr Waked

Abdel Rehim Ali and Tarek Nour, host and owner of satellite TV channel Al-Qahera Wal Nas, were ordered Wednesday pay damages for insulting Egyptian actor Amr Waked
A ruling from a misdemeanour court in Cairo ordered TV host Abdel Rehim Ali and media tycoon Tarek Noor to pay LE5,000 each for insulting Egyptian actor Amr Waked.
The court also ordered them to pay an additional LE90,000 to Waked in damages.
Waked filed a lawsuit against the TV host accusing him of insulting him on his show 'Black Box' aired on the privately owned channel Al-Qahera Wal Nas, owned by Nour.
Waked published the court verdict on his Facebook page Wednesday and said that he filled the lawsuit because the two aired fabricated footage of torture in Tahrir Square and accused him of torture.
Ali previously broadcast mobile phone conversations attributed to Egyptian activists on the same satellite channel.
Actvists said that recording private phone conversations and broadcasting them were illegal acts, invoking the Egyptian penal code that clearly prohibits such acts.
In a series of episodes, Ali aired recordings that included 6 April Youth Movement leaders Ahmed Maher and Mohamed Adel, former MP Mostafa El-Naggar and poet Abdel-Rahman Youssef.
Tarek Nour is a pioneer of advertising in Egypt who was also the general coordinator of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi presidential campaign.
