Train For Aim (TFA) – a company which offers training programmes for races and sporting events – held its first national triathlon in the Red Sea resort town of Gouna last week. The race, which took place at the town's marina on Friday and Saturday, had almost 200 male and female participants, from as young as 10-years-old and up to 50. The categories of the race included a duathalon on Friday, where participants ran 5 km, followed by 20 km of cycling and then another 2.5 km run. Saturday's events saw a Super Sprint Triathlon, with 200 metres of swimming, 10 km of cycling and 2.5 km of running, as well as a Sprint Triathlon, with 750 metres of swimming, 20 km of cycling and a 5 km run. The race had participants from TFA's Gezira Club and Palm Hills training groups, the Shooting Club, Heliopolis Club, Maadi Club. Also present were Alexandria training groups, members of the Egyptian Triathlon Federation and individuals from across Egypt. TFA's own female participants managed to secure four medals in the race, with Reem Hashem winning first place in the duathalon, while in the Sprint category, Howaida Kamel won first place, followed by Yasmin Halawa in second and Shaden Tarek in third.
