Egypt's Suez Canal revenues rose 8.9 percent to $442.4 million in April as compared to the same month a year earlier when the canal collected $406.1 million in revenues, according to a government website for state information. Last week, head of the Suez Canal Mohab Mamesh announced that a new record had been set regarding the size of transported cargo, with 59 ships carrying 3.7 million tons of cargo in a single day. The world's largest container ship, carrying 200,000 tons, passed through the canal on Saturday from Morocco on its way to Malaysia, added Mamesh.
