A statement issued on Saturday, Nov. 12 by the Central Bank of Egypt denied any activity in former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's or his family's bank accounts since the 2011 Revolution in accordance with orders from the bank and the public prosecutor. The statement commented on the issued statement by Assistant Minister of Justice to the Illicit Gains Authority concerning the possession of more than $350 million by Mubarak's family in Swiss banks. The statement said: “It has been found that the money which the Illicit Gains Authority searched for in Switzerland did not exit out of the Egyptian banking system.” The statement assured the continued cooperation between the bank, the Illicit Gains Authority and all other Egyptian investigating and monitoring institutes. It was mentioned that after the January 25 Egyptian Revolution there was a meeting held to include all the Central Bank's principals last February 9, 2011. The meeting's outcomes released instructions to all Egyptian banks to ban any money transfers that exceed U.S. $100,000 exiting Egypt. On February 28, 2011, the public prosecutor issued a resolution to put all of Mubarak's and his family's money under custody.
