Workers of the Egyptian Company for managing and operating metro caused an overcrowding at the metro station and slowness in the metro schedule because of the worker's sit-in. The overcrowding was serious, especially in El-Shohadaa station, which leads to Tahrir square, the headquarters of the sit-in. This forced security to open the gates into the metro without requiring a ticket at the turnstiles. Some passengers criticized the workers' sit-in because they depend on the metro as an easy and low fee means of transportation. In similar news, many main squares were influenced by the workers' sit-in including Ramses, Tahrir and Isaaf squares. It is worth mentioning, the workers previously detained the Minister of Transportation in one of the offices at El-Shohadaa station after he went to listen to their demands. The workers refused the resignation of the head of metro unit Mohamed el-Shemy and demanded his return.
