CAIRO: Eight bands will perform at the Underground Music Federation's launch concert, ‘Nice to Rock You,' in Cairo today. The show, held at the Gezira Youth Center on Cairo's Zamalek island, will start at 4pm with Ahmed el-Haggar followed by Fo2 El Setou7. Shady Ahmed, a solo artist and winner of 2010's Makshoof Music Competition, will play next, followed by U.S. guest band and late addition Johnny Rodgers. Next will be Egoz and SimpleXity, two popular Cairene bands that have been on the Cairo and Alexandria music scenes for nearly half a decade. Following SimpleXity will be Salalem. Headlining band Cairokee, a rock band with exclusively Arabic lyrics, will finish the show. Tickets are 35 LE and will be available at the door, pending availability. The show is hosted by UMF-LIVE.COM, which calls itself “Egypt's first and official underground music website which acts as the main hub for the underground music scene in Egypt.” Today's event is the first of a series of events that will take place over the coming year, according to organizers.
