Al-Awja land port in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula was closed today for the Jewish New Year and it will reopen on Sunday. An official source said that according to the agreement between Egypt and Israel, crossings and land port are closed three times annually, on Eid el-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and the Jewish New Year. Other than the weekend vacations of Friday and Saturday, they are closed during religious feasts as well, in coordination between both sides. It should be noted that al-Awja land port is dedicated for goods crossing and the commercial exchange between Egypt and Israel. This is according to the QIZ agreement that was signed by Egypt, Israel and the US.
