BEHEIRA, Egypt – Egyptian police and security forces can rid the country of its thuggery within 72 hours if there is the political will behind the effort, claims likely presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabbahi. “There should be a new system in order to accomplish the mission of the January 25 Revolution,” Sabbahi said at a press conference in Beheira governorate on Friday. He also urged the ruling military council to “return to its barracks” as fast as possible once returning power to a civilian government chosen freely by Egyptian people. Sabbahi also said that he hopes to see Egypt become like Turkey, India, China and Brazil in the coming years. “Egypt will have a democratic system protecting citizens' rights and the independence of the judiciary,” he said. He also vowed, if elected, to provide all Egyptians with basic needs like food, housing, education and medical insurance.
