CAIRO: Sharm el-Sheikh will host the World Travel Awards (WTA) for the first time under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. The Egyptian Tourist Authority (ETA) and Ministry of Tourism will provide all the required facilities to host the WTA, in cooperation with the administration of the International Savoy Hotel, said ETA chairman Amr el-Ezaby. Ezaby added that the event would dispel Egypt's negative image. The WTA was established in 1993 in England. It is among the biggest and the most prestigious awards programs in the travel industry worldwide. Over 200 reporters and media elite will attend the event. ETA nominated those media representatives to reflect positive images about Egypt. More than 1200 representatives of the tourism industry will also attend the event. Savoy Hotels set a program for the participants for to educate them on Egypt's capacity for tourism to revive the Egyptian tourism industry. More than 183,000 large tourist companies from 160 countries will vote online to determine the winners.
