SUEZ, Egypt: The Italian ship Frenzy Visio paid transit charges in Suez Canal Egyptian waterway 142 years ago. The charges reached U.S. $28,000. “The ship is a part of a South convoy coming from the Red Sea and heading towards the Mediterranean. It carries 59,000 tons,” said the official navigational source in Suez Canal Authority. The source added transit charges includes guiding the ship, locomotive costs and insurance to pass the canal, which the ship restored after passing.
