The charity foundation Masr El-Kheir launched a new project called animal resources to improve the breed of buffalo in Egypt through artificial insemination. The animal resources project is the first of its kind in Egypt and Middle East, aiming for the birth of 100,000 buffalos per year. The idea of artificial insemination of buffalos is to produce a larger amount of milk. Buffalos produce approximately 4 to 5 kilos of milk daily and the first generation of better breeds of buffalos produce from 10 to 12 kilos of milk daily and second generation from 12 to 18 kilos daily. Masr El-Kheir's farm was founded in the Arab Mateer village in the governorate of Assiut on an area of 200 acres. The farm includes two stations, each containing 40 chambers on 10 acres; nine sheds for dairy animals and 15 other sheds. The farm also includes machines to milk cows, with a broiler and a breeding station which includes more than 15 sheds to accommodate 2,000 buffalos.
