The Hungarian President will grant an honorary doctorate to Pope Shenouda III, head of Egypt's Coptic Christian Church, for his promotion of peace in the Middle East in an official ceremony in the Republican Palace on Saturday. The broadcasted ceremony will include members of the Hungarian parliament and cabinet, along with representatives from the Egyptian Embassy. The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that it appreciates the Pope's visit, as he is a personality that receives respect everywhere. The award coincides with the Pope's three-day visit to Hungary to open the first Hungarian Coptic Church there. Following his visit to Hungary, the Pope will fly to the U.S. for medical treatment.
