A new opera called Pyramids and Revolution has begun its premier at the Cairo Opera House. It will continue showing until July 9. The production is based on choreography by world famous choreographer Maurice Béjart for Egypt and the Cairo Opera House in 1990. It deals with the history of Egypt in six acts, reflecting the most important historical stages of the country . It begins with the Pharaonic era, move to the Greek era, then to the coming of Islam, the French invasion by Napoleon Bonaparte, the creation of modern Egypt and, finally, the January 25 Revolution. Its artistic vision combines elements from both classical and modern dance. The set was designed by Mohamed Gharabwy, its music by Tarek Sharara and additional choreography by Ermina Kamel.
