Borussia Dortmund have named Thomas Doll their new boss, succeeding recently-resigned coach Jurgen Rober, according to the club's official website on Tuesday. Doll signed a contract until June 30th 2008, and will take control of Dortmund in their next league game against Nurnberg on Saturday. Rober has resigned from his position after losing six of the eight games in which he managed the club since replacing Dutchman Bert van Marwijk in January. Doll, 40, has been sacked from his position as a Hamburg manager following a string of below-par results that put the club in the relegation zone. Dortmund are 13th in the Bundesliga table with 28 points, only four away from bottom side Borussia Monchengladbach.
